Billboard Top 10 Albums

Well the holiday season is right around the corner, as I see the trick-or-treaters gearing up for another annual urban assault. So we’re breaking out our best “list-mania” and holiday spirit with a brief recap of this weeks…

Billboard Top 10 Albums: (week of October 29, 2008)

#1 “Black Ice” AC/DC
Sales: 784,000
Enters the Billboard Top 200 Albums at Number One! Biggest debut ever by a mainstream hard rock group AND an exclusive album sold in only one retail store (Walmart.) AC/DC has just begun their world tour in support of their new album “Black Ice.”
Ya know, there was a time when “Highway To Hell” was practically banned in big box stores like WM. But times they are a’changin.

#2 “High School Musical 3: Graduation Day”
Sales: 297,000
Debut of the new soundtrack by various artists. Movie is currently # 1 in theaters in it’s first week on the big screen. Disney hits it big again!

#3 “Paper Trail” T.I.
Sales: 93,000
Rap single “Live Your Life” # 3 on Hot Digital Songs chart, featuring Rhianna.

#4 “Lucky Old Sun” Kenny Chesney
Sales: 88,000
Album debuted at # 1 last week. Single “I’m Alive” featuring Dave Matthews on Hot Digital Songs chart. Country sure don’t sound like country no more. But it sure does rock!

#5 “Death Magnetic” Metallica
Sales: 52,000
Album moves down from the # 4 slot after spending 7 weeks in the top 5. “The Day That Never Comes” on Hot Digital Songs chart. Have you noticed how many are complaining about how LOUD this album is? Compression kills.

#6 “Rock N Roll Jesus” Kid Rock
Sales: 40,000
20 weeks in the Top 10? Go figure! At least the album has a solid black cover, so we don’t have to look at another Kid picture.

#7 “The Sound” Mary, Mary
Sales: 37,000
2nd album debut from female gospel duo. Amen.

#8 “Year Of The Gentleman” Ne-Yo
Sales: 31,000
Holding the # 8 position for 3 weeks. Single “Miss Independent” in Top 20 on Hot Digital Songs chart.

#9 “Jennifer Hudson” Jennifer Hudson
Sales: 29,000
Single “Spotlight” on the Hot Digital Songs chart. She’s also in the top movie ‘The Secret Life Of Bees.’ Our prayers and condolences go to Jennifer and her family after the tragic shooting death of her mother, brother and nephew.

#10 “The Carter III” Lil Wayne
Sales: 25,000
Previously # 1 album with 5 songs on the Hot Digital Songs chart. The single “Mrs. Officer” features Bobby Valentino and Kidd Kidd.
