Joe Cocker
Happy Birthday to Joe Cocker, born May 20th, 1944.
I’ve always enjoyed his Mad Dogs & Englishmen album. It’s rockin’ soul grooves defied you not to move to the beat to those great, great songs…”Honky Tonk Woman, Cry Me a River, Feelin’ Alright, Superstar, She Came in Through the Bathroom Window, The Letter,” and “Delta Lady.”
What a great lineup and a huge touring band with a choir…Leon Russell as musical director on piano, Rita Coolidge vocals, Jim Gordon and Jim Keltner on drums, Bobby Keys on tenor sax, Jim Price on trumpet, Chris Stainton on piano & organ, Carl Radle on bass, Chuck Blackwell on percussion and drums, among many many others on that tour.
The DVD of Mad Dogs & Englishmen is a great concert/tour film, which has been remastered with 5.1 surround sound.
