John Lennon – A Legend at 68
December 8th is the day we all remember losing John Lennon. But his spirit and his music lives on, with song lyrics just as relevant today as they were in 1980.
From Lennon’s “Happy Xmas (War Is Over)…”
So this is Christmas
And what have you done
Another year over
And a new one just begun
And so this is Christmas
I hope you have fun
The near and the dear ones
The old and the young
A very Merry Christmas
And a Happy New Year
Let’s hope it’s a good one
Without any fear
…I wish we could add the part about war is over.

A final interesting note about Lennon…The Vatican finally forgave John Lennon for declaring that the Beatles were more famous than Jesus Christ (1966,) calling the remark a “boast” by a young man grappling with sudden fame. This was reported last month during the 40th anniversary of The Beatles’ White Album.
