Kurt Cobain Guitar Sold
A Fender Mustang guitar previously owned by Kurt Cobain has been sold to a private collector for $100,000. The sunburst guitar was smashed by Cobain during Nirvana’s first U.S. tour, and held together by duct tape. It’s believed to be a one-of-a-kind collector instrument because Kurt Cobain wrote on it during the band’s first national tour.
The guitar was on display in Seattle’s Experience Music Project, where senior curator Jacob McMurray confirmed the sale. Cobain’s Mosrite Gospel Mark IV guitar is the only piece of Cobain memorabilia that sold higher, according to a news release from Helen Hall, a broker in England.
