Neil Young’s Trunk Show

Neil Young’s ‘Trunk Show’ film just debuted in a dozen major cities across the U.S. It’s an intimate look at his stage show, filmed in his renowned home-made-movie-with-hand-held-camera style.

Directed by Jonathan Demme, Trunk Show features Neil Young on stage with his vintage band, Ben Keith, Ralph Molina, Rick Rosas, Anthony Crawford (“Sweet Pea”) and wife Pegi Young.

Songs include “Sad Movies, Mexico,” and “No Hidden Path,” plus “Like a Hurricane” and “Cinnamon Girl.” There’s also some rare live numbers like “Ambulance Blues” and “Kansas.”

I really enjoyed his last film, ‘Heart of Gold,’ also directed by Demme, which took place at Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium.

The Dreamin’ Man Live ’92 album, showcasing Young’s 1992 shows, is now available on 180 gram vinyl. The latest release in his ongoing Archives Performance Series, Dreamin’ Man contains live recordings of his Harvest Moon album.
