New Releases for Street Date June 29, 2010
I woke up this morning thinking about what new releases are hitting the street today, June 29th, 2010. Here’s what I found on amazon.com; a pretty diverse collection on multiple formats:
Rush – ‘Beyond the Lighted Stage’

The Doors – ‘When You’re Strange: A Film About The Doors’
DVD & also available on Blu-ray
Johnny Depp narrates this new film documentary about one of the 60′s most iconic counterculture bands The Doors. This 90-minute film features rare archival video of the band from their inception in 1966, to Jim Morrison’s death in 1971. More info at whenyourestrangemovie.com.
Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers – ‘Mojo’

(Also available on Blu-ray Audio)
This Vinyl and DVD-Audio release of their new album contains all 15 tracks in high-resolution 48K 24-bit PCM stereo and DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 surround sound. The Blu-ray disc displays song information on your screen, and also includes a code to download the album in one of 3 formats: 320kbs MP3, Apple lossless, or FLAC. More info at tompetty.com.
Black Sabbath – ‘Paranoid’
Classic Albums on DVD Audio from Eagle Rock Entertainment
(Also available on Blu-ray)
The definitive story of this classic heavy metal album from the Classic Albums series. This is not a remastered copy of the original album; it’s the story of how the album came together, along with interviews with the band members of how they wrote and recorded the songs, along with sound bites from the studio sessions.
John Fogerty – ‘Centerfield (25th Anniversary Edition)’
CD from Geffen Records
The 25th Anniversary Edition of this classic 1985 release features the original album digitally remastered with 2 bonus tracks. John Fogerty recreated his classic CCR sound and is also the first musician to be honored at the Baseball Hall of Fame for this album’s title track “Centerfield.”
Lee Ritenour – ’6 String Theory’
CD from Concord Records
A tribute to the guitar featuring George Benson, B.B. King, Slash, Steve Lukather, John Scofield, Joe Bonamassa, Robert Cray, Jonny Lang, and Vince Gill. Legendary guitarist Lee Ritenour put together this special project that explores the amazing musical journey of the guitar, which also features Shon Boubil, who won the grand prize of Ritenour’s Yamaha Six String Theory Guitar Competition.
Judy Collins – ‘Paradise’
CD from Wildflower Records
Her new album features ten heartfelt songs of universal themes and desires of a human being searching for paradise here on earth. Also features Joan Baez and Stephen Stills on two tracks.
Please note: just because I got this information from amazon.com doesn’t mean it’s always accurate; it’s common knowledge that street dates change all the time, due to manufacturing, fulfillment and other factors. I do try to include links to the authoritative source whenever possible, like the artist’s or record label website.
