Record Store Day

Record Store Day

There’s lots of reports of a very cool Record Store Day from last Saturday.

At the Coachella Festival, Mastodon, Silversun Pickups and Superchunk mixed with fans at the Record Store Day shop. The mayors of New York City and Bloomington Indiana issued proclamations in honor of Record Store Day.

Some of our favorite artists just released these new albums…

Neil Young ‘Sugar Mountain – Live at Canterbury House’ recorded on November 1968, just days before his self-titled solo debut was released. Double LP (200g vinyl from Japan) and digital download. We’ve been waiting for this since last year.

Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young CSNY ‘Deja Vu Live,’ the soundtrack to their 2006 Freedom of Speech Tour Film. Available on LP, CD and digital music download.

There’s also some very cool new releases coming up soon. On May 15th, Green Day will release their new album ’21st Century Breakdown.’ There will also be a limited number of free lithographs available with purchase, only at indie record stores.

Yahoo has a good post about the history of Record Store Day and it’s creator, Chris Brown of Bull Moose Music.
