Rock Family Trees by Pete Frame
Remember Pete Frame? You might not remember the name, but you will definitely remember his work.
You’ve seen his Rock Family Trees on wall posters, on album sleeves and even on T-shirts. At first glance you know these are a labor of love, by someone who really gets into his music.
It’s a fascinating look at rock & roll history. Like reading all the liner notes on every album you’ve ever played. That’s how I first learned about music. Until CDs came along; then I couldn’t read the fine print anymore, so I had to wait for the internet to find the official websites.
Yes, the official home of Rock Family Trees is blog.familyofrock.com
An interactive version of Rock Family Trees is also being worked on, as mentioned in their blog post. Now that’s going to be great!
Several volumes of Pete Frame’s collected works have been published by Omnibus Press. Some books are out of print, so you have to search for them, but it’s really worth it.
