South By SouthWest

I’ve been browsing the South By Southwest website to see what went down in Austin this year.

My friends on Facebook have commented how huge SXSW has become. There’s so many events, shows and panels to choose from, it’s hard to see and hear everything.

Fortunately, most of the videos are on the SXSW YouTube Channel. Here’s some of the showcase bands I kinda like:

Garotas Suecas “Codinome Dinamite” comes at you with the force of early Beatlemania, rough, rowdy rock & roll, but with a twist of latin.

Lady Dottie & the Diamonds “I Ain’t mad at Ya” is busting loose blues rock with soul.

The Low Anthem “Charlie Darwin” is hauntingly beautiful, kinda like Enya.

Pete Molinari “I Came out of the Wilderness” evokes a country blues feel that’s equal parts early Elvis, Bob Dylan and Woody Guthrie, with a falsetto that recalls Patsy Cline.
