Happy Birthday to one of our favorite session and touring drummers, Steve Gadd.
It’s amazing how many artists Gadd has performed with; he’s recorded and toured with Al Di Meola, The Bee Gees, Chick Corea, Eric Clapton, James Taylor, Jim Croce, Joe Cocker, Jon Bon Jovi, Manhattan Transfer, Michael McDonald, Paul McCartney, Paul Simon and Steely Dan.
Some of my favorite albums featuring Steve Gadd are ‘Riding with the King’ with BB King and Eric Clapton, ‘Aja’ and ‘Gaucho’ with Steely Dan. His discography spanning four decades is simply massive.
A great DVD of Gadd’s performance is an L.A. concert with Eric Clapton on ‘One More Car, One More Rider.’ The band playing with Clapton and Gadd is awesome; Andy Fairweather-Low, Nathan East, Billy Preston, and David Sancious.
