Rhino Records has been my favorite record label for years. Those same zany folks offer their fantastic catalog and bizarre sense of humor online, and serve up all their latest music and video in CD, DVD, digital downloads, and of course, their awesome box sets.
Now they’re sharing their best video clips on YouTube on [...]

LOS ANGELES, Calif. — The new song from country duo Scott Joss and Doug Colosio is “Darlin’,” a deeply-felt ballad that celebrates many aspects of love. Released by Golosio Publishing (golosio.com), “Darlin’” is quietly exciting in a very peaceful and intimate style. “If ever a song could be said to wear its heart on its sleeve, this is the one,” says John Scott G, a partner in Golosio Publishing. “The lyrics are very down-to-earth but they pack an emotional wallop. Best of all, there is a spec
Buenas Noches From A Lonely Room Chorus: Send me the pillow that you dream on Don’t you know that I still care for you Send me the pillow that you dream on So, darlin’, I can dream on it, too Each night while I’m sleeping, oh so lonely I’ll share your [...]
October 7, 2008 Discussion, Miscellaneous Musings Relationships are tricky business. I’ve got to think country music knows that better than any other art form. Here in the real world, we tend to talk about our relationships with others in simple terms: friendly, intimate, casual, committed, short-term, long-term, stable, messy. Boring. Fun. Weird. Like each one can be reduced to a basic theme. A bite-sized blurb for your next cocktail party conversation. But no relationship ever really has j
Jump to Comments This Monday’s Memory focuses on the book of which I was thinking when I first had the idea for this new weekly feature (backdated due to technical difficulties).Title: Johnny Tremain Author: Esther Forbes Publication Year: 1943 Pages: 256 Genre: Fiction, Children’s Count for Year: 60 How I discovered I’ll be honest (as I usually am here as Dwight Yoakam sings “I tell the truth ‘cept when I lie”) I don’t remember when I first came across this book. She currently appears in the AMC original television drama series Mad Men as young suburban housewife and mother Betty Draper, but may be best known for her role as Cadence Flaherty in American Wedding (2003), from the American Pie comedy film series. She also had the lead female role in the movie Love's Enduring Promise. Jones plays the role of a pioneer family's oldest child. She falls in love with a young mysterious man who saved her father's life. Jones has also had supporting role
I bought this album because of my love for music as well as it goes for a good cause to help children. The purpose of review is to share my thoughts on songs. My number one favorite song on this album is Fight for Your Right to Party sang by Big & Rich. It is such interesting take on that song made popular in the 80s by the Beastie Boys. If they released this to country radio, it would become a big hit. Then my second favorite song is called Give Back the Key to My Heart sang by Dwight Yoakam. H
September 27, 2008 Discussion Every once in a while, I stumble upon a list that I instantly know should be adapted for country music. Earlier today, I followed a link to Ten Albums to Hear Before You Die. It’s an interesting list. They picked the right Billy Joel (The Stranger), U2 (The Joshua Tree) and Beach Boys (Pet Sounds) albums. I disagree with their choices for the Beatles (Rubber Soul and Revolver are better than The White Album) and Madonna (True Blue isn’t in the same league
Continuing All Clown Weekend at TBY, a song that I really dig by Dwight Yoakam called "Inside the Pocket of a Clown." And I also dig the striped pants on the gals*. And did anyone see Dwight in Sling Blade as the drunk boyfriend? Great perfomance and great movie. MMMM-Hmmmm. * Maybe Enc from Observation Mode can give her comments on the pants.

Confession. I’ve been addicted lately to the Web site www.270towin.com/simulation, which predicts the upcoming presidential election based on the most recent state-by-state polling data. Every time you refresh the site it simulates a different result, with states quickly turning blue or red as the bar at the bottom of the page moves toward the magic number of 270 electoral votes needed to win. Each simulation takes about 10 seconds — or just enough time to drive yourself crazy if the results a
Wow, just when you thought it couldn't get any worse... OK, actually, the nominees for the 2009 class at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame aren't bad -- most are certainly worthy -- but it's just so uninspiring and is going to make for a pretty boring ceremony. And they are: Jeff Beck, Chic, Wanda Jackson, Little Anthony and the Imperials, Metallica, Run-DMC, the Stooges, War and Bobby Womack. We're fully in the era of huge rock bands, but because the hall is continually making up for poor past de
