It was forty years ago, July 1968 when The Yardbirds played their final gig at Luton Technical College in Bedfordshire, England. The lineup at that time was Keith Relf as lead singer and on harmonica, Jimmy Page on guitar, (Jeff Beck had already left the group by that time,) Chris Dreja on bass and [...]
Running and pushups. I gotta say the pushups look a little weak =) But Britney is looking wicked lean again! So Britney Spears is clearly working out with her trainer a lot again. Word on the street is isn't the "workout girl" that she used to be. She used to be all about working out, and she loved it. Now, she'd rather focus on her music. Right now, Britney hates working out... but she has to. And I think that's normal. We all go through phases where working out is inspiring an

Well ..... the speed scrapping is still going strong and today I went for a double page (LOL - as if I needed the challenge!!!) Today's prompt was about perfection. I guess for a long time I strived for the perfect Christmas. The perfect tree, handmade cards, perfect decorations, all the accessories and even - though let's face it I was NEVER going to manage this one with my paltry skills - the perfect Christmas food. Do you know what - it's taken me years to learn to appreciate that n
Thursday, Dec. 4, 2008 -- 1:52 p.m. -- at my desk Today is my birthday, and these are my iPhone cupcakes. iWife is the most wonderful wife an iPhone blogger -- and normal guy -- could possibly have. She's quite creative. And sneaky. She had to grab my phone when I wasn't holding it (I know! When would that be?!?), get a screenshot and copy it into cupcake form. I love these. Eating them will be tough. Thought you'd all want to see. I'll be posting more later and tomorrow about the Amazon a
okay, so one last flight. I am so excited for it too. Last night I was so tired thinking no way, no more traveling (because I looked around my house and saw laundry everywhere, floors that needed to be washed, dirty house, bills to be played) Well today I am singing a different tune, I accomplished 80% of my list yesterday, still needs more intense cleaning but it is manageable. So I haven't scrapbooked in soooo long, what to take? Katharina keeps phoning telling me she is taking her whole hous
By far, this is my favorite time of year! Christmastime! We have been busy decking the halls this week and getting ready for a Christmas party that we are hosting here on Saturday night. I'm trying to get the menu finalized and get it mostly done tomorrow so that come Saturday, I won't be running around crazy! While we were in Nashville at Mike's parents' for Thanksgiving, we drove up to my sister's on Friday so we could visit with them. One of my sister's favorite shops was havi
If you thought I was joking about the heated debate I was having with the Washington Post’s Bob Barnes yesterday, well, I wasn’t. (I also wasn't joking that everything I write this week will have some connection to the Crimson Tide or football, so non-football fans may be better off with another "legal" blog for the next few days.) Anyway, after reading my blog yesterday, when I wrote about how it saddened me that a great guy and colleague like Bob was saddled with the misfortune of being a Fl
Did you ever notice that you either have no auditions, nil, zero, nada or suddenly out of nowhere, you need to ask your agent to adjust audition times because your bookings are conflicting with a multitude of auditions and callbacks (you should only dream of this being your biggest problem). Why is it that when it rains it pours? Who knows? But I do know that the old adage, work begets work, is pretty accurate. So what does all this mean? Well if the work is not coming to you, go to the
So, by now you know that my parents and little sisters have relocated across the country to Georgia. My parents are driving now and are just about there. *sniff* This made for one insane fit - everything - in weekend! It was wonderful!! :) We spent Saturday evening at Aimee and Eric's place celebrating Christmas. First we did our immediate family exchange (which we usually do on Christmas Eve). Everyone has one person that they give a special gift two. Brad had me so my parents got me thi
MATT DRISCOLL: DAMON CASTILLO BAND TONIGHT AT MASA >>> If I was into dreamy Latin looking men who wear vintage leather jackets and play vintage Fender guitars with a jazz, funk, rock and soul styling rarely heard, I would sooooo be into Damon Castillo — leader of the aptly titled Damon Castillo Band. But I’m not gay. Really. No joke. I just know a good looking man when I see one — no harm in that. What I’m also keen enough to recognize is musical talent, and the Damon Castillo Ban
So as so many of you have kindly shared with me (thank you, all of you), I started this blog as a way to empower not only myself, but other women, as well, to embrace and love their own bodies just as they are. My purpose was and still is to inspire others to shed the self-doubt, the hatred that is so often cast upon them, that is even self-inflicted because of the constant barrage of images and messages from our media that we are just not pretty enough, not thin enough, not tall enough, not..
Louis Vuitton has picked up another celebrity face for print ads. Earlier this year we saw teh likes of Mikhail Gorbachev, Scarlett Johansson, and 007 Mr. Sean Connery. Now ... Madonna. WWD: MADONNA AND MARC: When Marc Jacobs found himself in a meeting on a recent Monday morning to brainstorm about Louis Vuitton’s next fashion advertising campaign, inspiration struck. “I just blurted out, ‘I think we should do Madonna ,’” said the designer, Vuitton’s creative director, mentioning he’d attended
A couple of days before I took an extended Thanksgiving holiday, a fellow zinester dropped off the full run of Infiltration at my apartment. All twenty-five issues of the staple and fold zine by Ninjalicious, the intrepid urban explorer who passed away in 2005. Each one about places where you are not supposed to go. To say I was giddy would be an understatement. The feeling was matched a day later when a comic book by Jimenez Lai hit my mailbox. There is something magic about these little pu
Hello my friends! I'm sorry I have been a little scarce as of late. I've been so crazy busy lately, but aren't we all this time of year? This week takes the cake though, I think. My oldest daughter will turn 17 Friday, my brother will get married on Saturday, we will be keeping my nephew while he goes on a little honeymoon, both my Momma and my Mother-in-law have birthdays on Monday, I have several project deadlines to meet, orders to ship, and I've been slowly working on the last shop upda
RON SWARNER: LET IT ROLL, BABY, ROLL >>> Doyle’s Public House co-owner Russ Heaton just sent me a reminder that tomorrow is Repeal Day. Last year, Heaton threw this statement my way: On December 5th, 1933, Congress ratified the 21st Amendment, repealing Prohibition and restoring the American right to a celebratory drink. Unlike St. Patrick's Day or Cinco de Mayo, Repeal Day is a day that all Americans have a part in observing, because it's written in our Constitution. No other holida
Okay, I know that picture is from a different Christian Bale movie than I'm talking about today, but for some reason I had it stored on my desktop. Hm. Attended a special reception last night for select members of the cast and crew of Dark Knight last night. One of my favorite cover stories, Aaron Eckhart, looked handsome as always in a black tie and jacket and it was neat to hear Gary Oldman actually speaking in his native tongue. I properly worshipped at the altar of Christopher Nolan, one
Card making has always been one of my passions. Using clear elements makes them that much more special. And they are really easy to incorporate! Designing cards with clear element is all about conceal and reveal. For example, I designed these two hybrid cards to be used for giving a gift card. So here comes trouble. But this is a good trouble to have. You see there is just enough area on the card front that is OPAQUE (covered with paper) that you cannot see the contents inside. S

The MountainGoat Report has the goods. One thing that I love about Conservatives is they've yet to fully understand how the 'tubes work.
I've been thinking about writing, inspiration and creativity. One of the definitions of being a writer is that you write. Regularly, that is, and not simply personal writing (like a blog or journal). But that raises the question of what happens if you don't FEEL like writing? Or maybe you don't have the time? Or maybe you don't have an idea? Don't feel inspired? I've been talking to some friends recently who are feeling burnt out, and they don't necessarily know why. Some of it is illness, som
