Man, it’s almost impossible to keep up with almost 1,700 artists and bands during the huge South By SouthWest music conference going on in Austin this weekend. But I found a pretty cool website that attempts to do just that.
It’s called imeem’s ultimate guide to SXSW, at sxsw.imeem.com. Check out their day by [...]
In his first of three Keys 2 The City clips, Blu describes the “west coast bubble” that makes up LA’s inclusive hip hop/jazz/rock/soul scene and highlights the musical fusion LA’s next movement of artists brings to the game. PREVIOUS: Keys to the City L.A. w/ U-N-I (Video) Posted in Hip Hop, Video
Forrester has new predictions about the future of music. Apparently, 41 percent of music sales will be digital by 2013. As previous studies have shown, the increase in digital sales will not make up for the ongoing decline in CD sales, and so as a result, the music market will shrink at a compound annual growth rate of 0.8, dropping to $9.8 billion in 2013. Sales in 2008, by comparison, are expected to total $10.2 billion. A book I'm reading has made me wary about such predictions. Nassim Ni
by vivrant thang on musical gifts It’s the most wonderful time of the year! At least that’s what I’m trying to tell myself. Viv is struggling a bit to get into the spirit of her favorite holiday. However, I’m sure as I start decorating and shopping, things will seem brighter. There won’t be a whole lot of gifts under my tree this year. (Won’t be buying that many either). But I do plan to treat myself to a few things to satisfy my musical sweet tooth. Over the next week, I’ll be doing a couple o

This month, Imeem’s Keys To The City travels to the West Coast to uncover life bubbling in the LA Hip-Hop scene. And trust, as you’ve seen on these pages, shit is bubbling like a soda beneath some broken rubble over on the West West. Today, we get a glimpse behind the same 2 dudes who brought you Fried Chicken & Watermelon, Thurzday & Y.O. a/k/a U-N-I. Props to Will.
Com talks about some tracks that are featured on his upcoming album, Universal Mind Control, which drops next week (December 9th). Posted in Hip Hop, Video
Rating: BuddyMob is an “all-in-one social” network designed exclusively for Android Kiboo is a company that loves it’s mobile social networks. It’s made quite a few by now. The most succesful is Moblr, but it has got others that operate in more niche markets. Today it has moved its Android offering, BuddyMob into the private beta test stage. What does BuddyMob do? The fine folks over at iMeem linked up with the homies U-N-I for a Los Angeles edition of their “Keys 2 The City” series. In chapter one, Thurz & Y-O give you a basic introduction to the crew and we even get some footage of them on the court. Which reminds me…every time I see these dudes, we’re supposed to get out there and play but it always falls through. They’ll be up here in Seattle this weekend for a show on Sunday the 7th at Nectar (with Blu!), so perhaps we can finally do this.
So next Tuesday, Blu & U-N-I will be tearing down The Independent in San Francisco. The Independent is one of my favorite venues to attend, and they rarely throw Hip Hop shows but when they do, they’re always LIVE! This is being hosted by the good folks over @ Imeem.com for their Keys 2 the City LA Edition. For those that aren’t up on Keys 2 the City, stay tuned, I’ll be filling you in shortly. So if you’re in the Bay Area, be sure to stop by and check out the homies, purchase your ticket
5 Min w/ PAC DIV c/o Dub Frequency Dub Frequency took a timeout with my boys Pac Div...saw a lot of that crew over the Thanksgiving holiday. But that was good thing...speaking of good times with Pac Div, I have to post that good footage of Nas from that show they did together. Off to run some errands...but I'll be back soon. Peace. Keys to the City: L.A. - U-N-I Interestingly enough Y-O video IM'd me last night as Thurz was playing drums for Guitar Hero, Rock Band...one of those games I don't play. That was probably the highlight of my lowkey sunday night. I asked him what's new and he sure didn't mention this...so i had to swipe it from The Dope House. A new series from HipHop DX & URB...and they start it with those cool Inglewood guys. Enjoy. Posted by mr. la
So I went to the dopeboyz on the corner and they told me that they were linking up with Imeem, URB, and HipHopDX to go get the key to L.A. Don’t worry, I told Imeem that we can help get the keys to NY, and you know that’s how we roll.
Ladies and gentleman, Keys to the City continues. The good folks at imeem link up with your favorite dopeboyz on the internet, HipHopDX & URB to present Keys to the City L.A. And what better way to start it off then a feature on two other dopeboyz that reside in Southern California? U-N-I up! Posted in Hip Hop, Video
