Repost: Howlin' Wolf - S/T (2nd Album US 1962)

Size: 61.2 MBBitrate: 256mp3Ripped By: ChrisGoesRockArtwork IncludedJapan 24-Bit RemasterIn the history of the blues, there has never been anyone quite like the Howlin' Wolf. Six foot three and close to 300 pounds in his salad days, the Wolf was the primal force of the music spun out to its ultimate conclusion. A Robert Johnson may have possessed more lyrical insight, a Muddy Waters more dignity, and a B.B. King certainly more technical expertise, but no one could match him for the singular abil

Software development metaphors

Jeff at Coding Horror gives a pointer to a summary of metaphors: oftware: do you write it like a book, grow it like a plant, accrete it like a pearl, or construct it like a building? As Steve McConnell notes in Code Complete 2, there’s no shortage of software development metaphors: A confusing abundance of metaphors has grown up around software development. David Gries says writing software is a science (1981). Donald Knuth says it’s an art (1998). Watts Humphrey says it’s a process (1989). P. J

Jeff Beck at Ronnie Scott’s - review

I recently got to see this release.  I’m used to seeing Jeff Beck from afar, in mid to large sized venues.  Apparently someone approached him about doing a few nights in this intimate little club in England and they decided to tape it. Good thing, too. The video is excellent, as is the audio.  The playing is pure Beck.  And when you look at the audience, they’re sitting at small tables.  It’s just weird. With Jeff is Tal Wilkenson, the (very) young female bassist from the past few tours, as

So that the kids will never forget!

Back before playlists you Foo Fighting Radiohead Freaks, there was this thing called Motown. James Jamerson and Carol Kaye were but a few of its unsung musical heros who listeners never knew about, but that any band today worth a damn surely would give props to. (The first two clips are from the great doc called Standing in the Shadows of Motown, and the second is from the doc First Lady of Bass.) ..... Or maybe you just need some guitar heros playing the blues. ..... Back when Clapton act

Review: Jeff Beck Live At Ronnie Scott’s

I’ve just finished listening to the Jeff Beck Live at Ronnie Scott’s for the 3rd time and I have to say if you are a Jeff Beck fan you will love it. For a live album the mix is incredibly good, Jeff’s guitar parts are crystal clear with no noise and you can hear Aussie prodigy Tal wilkenfield whose bass playing never misses a beat as clear as Beck, she is a star in her own right already! The album has all the classic Jeff Beck tracks, both original and covers you would expect to hear if yo

My Big Fat 2008 Turkey of the Year

The word "Thanksgiving" has many meanings. In historical context, the Pilgrims gave thanks for their new home, free of the religious persecution they escaped in Europe. In modern times, it means food. Lots of it. And family get-togethers. And football. And turkey. Lots of turkey. Here,we're serving up the turkey as well, celebrating the second annual "2008 Turkey Of The Year," devoted to the year's masters of media buffoonery. And what a year it was! Of course, it was all about the election this
