The Peoples Choice Awards - Secret Life of Bees
The Secret Life of Bees won two PCAs last night - one for Favorite Movie Drama and one for Favorite Independent Movie. This win shows that a movie starring 4 African American female leads (plus Dakota Fanning) can draw people to the box office. Will and Jada Smith produced the film and Gina Prince-Bythewood of Love and Basketball credit directed the film. Congrats to all of the ladies and gents. Ever-regal Queen Latifah reigned as host of the show. Her film The Secret Life of Bees (with Sophie Okonedo, Jennifer Hudson and Alicia Keys) won Best Independent Movie and Best Drama Movie.Ms. Keys song "No One" was voted favorite R&B Song.American Idol winner Jordin Sparks scored the Combined Forces nod for "No Air" with Chris Brown. GBM Chris Brown earned the award for Male Singer.
