Buddy Miles passed away this week and we will certainly miss him and his unique style.
Buddy spent time playing with a lot of great musicians over the years including Jimi Hendrix and Carlos Santana. His voice was so unique that he is still remembered for animated commercials he did for the California Raisins years ago.
Here are some excellent sites that have great information on Buddy Miles and his career.

Happy 58th Birthday Billy !
Best known as the guitarist of ZZ Top, Billy has a long history in Rock and Roll. As an founding member of the Moving Sidewalks who opened for The Jimi Hendrix Experience in Texas during their first Amercian tour.
Billy also has a very distinctive sound that is helped along by using a regular Mexican peso as a pick.

Isaac "Purple" Hayes is dead.

Jimi Hendrix, Seattle-born guitarist, was much taken with Hayes, going so far as to write the song that has immortalized them both: "Purple Hayes," the lyrics of which include this famous line of comradely love: "Excuse me while I kiss this guy

Joanna Newsom - Heart to Task (new song) + Angel (Hendrix cover)

Joanna Newsom - Heart to Task Joanna Newsom - Angel Quite a treat here: a live take of a new Joanna Newsom song (which surfaced yesterday on No Words, but bandwidth demands saw it disappear) along with a suitably unorthodox take on the Jimi Hendrix number, ‘Angel’. Unfurl, indulge and enjoy. Photo by lindsaray

Evidence - Hendrix Freestyle

When I Ev’s Celeb Reality, his freestyle over Lil Wayne’s Let the Beat Build, all the Dilated heads came out the wood works. So here goes another freestyle from the Los Angeles emcee/producer. Over some classic Jimi Hendrix and left rough and dirty for obvious reasons. Can you name the song?
