Liberal bloggers are buzzing about the angry tone of recent John McCain events, where furious GOPers are denouncing Barack Obama as a "terrorist" and a "traitor." Liberal bloggers are accusing McCain and Sarah Palin (and their surrogates who invoke Obama's middle name "Hussein") of stoking these ugly sentiments by portraying Obama as a dangerous unknown who sympathizes with terrorists. Many bloggers believe that the McCain camp is playing with fire by using such inflammatory language. Daily Kos
India's best known jazz musician Louis Banks is keeping his fingers crossed. He hopes that one of his two latest international albums wins a Grammy nomination this year. "And I wish one of them wins an award. Both have been sent to the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences of the US, which presents the awards every year," Banks told IANS in the capital. He was in New Delhi to announce the names of the nominees of the eighth edition of the Teachers' Achievements Awards for contempo
Making this quick, as I’m heading into the Abject Panic phase of this Bad to the Bone rewrite. This always happens, because to make the book better, I have to dismantle and rebuild it. Right now it’s like an engine that’s been taken apart, and all the little pieces are lying around on the garage floor. If this were American Chopper, Big Paul would be screaming his head off and throwing wrenches at the head of his son Paulie and that other guy, the one I always liked (I looked it up, it's Mikey).
After the candidates got off stage, the Cornyn and Noriega campaigns each sent emails to reporters declaring their candidate had won the debate. Here's Noriega campaign manager Mark Bell: "Did you hear what John Cornyn said tonight in his first debate against Rick Noriega? "I support the status quo." It shouldn't come as a surprise: On every issue -- the economy, health care, energy and gas prices -- Texans know that they're not better off than they were when Cornyn took office." Here's C
Call me a bitter American but my right to keep and bear arms and to practice my faith is important to me. There is only one ticket in this upcoming presidential election that will stand up for all our rights and that’s John McCain & Sara Palin. While I’m not a single issue voter my second amendment right is very important to me. McCain Palin will stand up for our rights to keep and bear arms and have a record of doing just that. Obama Bidden will not, they have a record of gun control and play

Republican Sen. John Cornyn may be the incumbent. But in his re-election advertising, he's sure trying to shed those clothes, huh? In this ad, his sixth TV spot of the fall, Cornyn has the cowboy hat pulled low. The shirttails are flapping in the wind. He talks about energy and Washington's failure to encourage more production. We can have more, plus protect the environment, he says. "We do it every day, right here in Texas," says Cornyn, standing in front of wind turbines near Sweetwater.
By Amy Sondova “Beating My Heart” the first single from Jon McLaughlin’s sophomore album OK, Now (Island/Def Jam) has been making waves on the radio (both figuratively and literally) for weeks. Produced by Jon Fields (Switchfoot, Jonas Brothers), the album has a soulful, bluesy pop-rock inspired by the likes of Billy Joel, Elton John, and perhaps even John Mayer (though Jon is resistant to compare himself to his peers). Jon was kind enough to “Take 5 + 2” with Backseat Writer on the precipice o
Rick Noriega, the Democratic challenger to U.S. Sen. John Cornyn, R-Texas, has popped his first TV ad just in time for tonight’s televised debate featuring the two and Libertarian Yvonne Schick. (In Austin, set your TIVO for 8 p.m. on KLRU-TV, Channel 18.) Titled “Fed Up,” the spot shows Noriega standing and saying Cornyn has failed Texas families by being among Washington politicians “who work day and night to bail out special interests,” a reference to the Wall Street rescue plan/bailout ado

In Wednesday night’s debate John McCain made a verbal gaffe in which he referred to his audience as “my fellow prisoners.” Not yet. But that comes later. Because under even the most optimistic scenario, if either of these two boobs wins the election -- and obviously as John McLaughlin would say, the chances that one of them will become president approaches metaphysical certitude -- we are in a world of hurt. Both are total illiterates when it comes to knowing about the many forces that shape

Following the first Presidential debate, conservative bloggers almost unanimously proclaimed John McCain the winner, whereas liberal bloggers saw a draw or a narrow win for Barack Obama. This time, liberal and conservative bloggers both seem to agree that Obama had the better night, although they disagree about the size of his victory. Most liberal bloggers believe that Obama won the debate convincingly. They're arguing that he came across as calm and confident and that his answers were much mo

I don't think Brokaw is whiny as much as he's auditioning to be the next John McLaughlin. "Sen. Obama, on a scale of 1 to 10, how serious is your desire to invade Pakistan"? The scary part is that he might actually get the position! There is no god and I am his prophet.
