The Glastonbury festival was a blast. Or for some, a blast from the past. At least there was a little bit more sunshine this year.
One particular favorite of ours is the amazing KT Tunstall, who played last Friday on the Pyramid Stage, despite falling rain. Read the review here.
There’s some great [...]

The A-list arctic tour has wrapped up and arrived back in the real world on Monday. Celebrities Feist, KT Tunstall, Vanessa Carleton, ex-Pulp frontman Jarvis Cocker, Martha Wainwright and rock legend Lou Reed’s artist wife Laurie Anderson were in Greenland to see the fast-melting Jakobshavn Glacier, which loses 20 million tons of ice per day. Arctic tourism is booming at the moment…the cynical side of me thinks it’s a case of last chance to see. Anyway, you can check out photos and video foot

October 6, 2008 Have you ever met anyone who walks into a room and simply commands attention? They haven’t even said a word, yet everyone simply focuses on them. They aren’t particularly showy, they don’t have to be beautiful, or charming or anything outstanding. It is simply their “Presence”. People naturally gravitate towards this person. When in a group, this person is ALWAYS chosen for leadership. They don’t seek it, they just are chosen by others. They don’t even have to know th

(1) Remember this awesome guest post from Paul Tarpey about the early days of Irish club culture? Well, the Irish Blog Awards folks have just gone and given it the nod as 02 Blog Post of the Month for September. Congrats Paul! Memo to self: must get more quality guest posts. Today on In Tune (Saturday 5:00 p.m., 5:30 NT) Katherine brings listeners up to date on what's making classical music news, and one of those stories is that the Manitoba Chamber Orchestra is joining Isabel Bayrakdarian on her 6 city tour stateside, which began on Oct. 4th, and winds up later this month in NYC -- where they will play Carnegie Hall. (In a related note -- Tafelmusik Baroque Orchestra is heading to an even more southerly direction, with a performance in Sinaloa, Mexico at La Feri
I suck at figuring out things like embedding video/audio into my blog. This is why you’ll rarely find such interesting things like that here, lol. I only just figured out how to add images, and I must say that was pretty satisfying! I have been swirling around in a dustcloud of emotions lately it seems, and I’m not sure why. But music often speaks to my moods and heals them. Recently I got Scottish-born KT Tunstalls first CD, Eye to the Telescope. I must say I love it; from beginning to end.

Another quote given to me by Tym: "It is only through disruptions and confusion that we grow, jarred out of ourselves by the collision of someone else's private world with our own." --Joyce Carol Oates Yesterday I had a pseudo job interview. It was more like a Get to Know Ya conversation. There may be opportunities in the future, but as with all things publishing right now, there's a Planning Stage involved. Since I've decided to not practice any interviewing questions, all I did to prep was
This week, singer/songwriter P!nk ascends to the number one position on the U.S. singles chart with her smash hit, “So What.” The irresistible rocking single tops Billboard’s “Hot 100 Singles,” “Hot Digital Songs” and “Hot Digital Tracks” charts, and is the number one radio airplay gainer for four weeks in a row, making it one of the top 10 most played songs at CHR radio stations. The David Meyers directed video is currently in rotation on VH-1, Fuse, Music Choice, and is one of the top ten v

"I Feel It All" by Feist---Yesterday afternoon I saw Meg Ryan's new film, The Women, at Reston Town Center.God Almighty. Meg Ryan just keeps getting sexier and sexier. She still America's girl.Well, maybe she's now America's mom, a M.I.L.F. we can believe in, as The One might say!You can sue me over that, too. That being that sexy moms are just awfully sexy!I enjoyed the film. All of the actresses turned in solid, credible performances. Yes, this script worked familiar territory, but I thought t
You may know Jarvis Cocker from his excellent band Pulp, and you may know Feist from that “1-2-3-4″ they use in the iPod commercials. But now, you can know them another way…as Arctic explorers. Duh. Cocker and Feist have joined the likes of Vanessa Carlton, KT Tunstall, and Robyn Hitchcock to investigate the effects of global warming. Pitchfork tells us that on September 25, a crew of scientists, artists, engineers, and journalists boarded a science research vessel in Kangerlussuaq, Greenl
