Led Zeppelin Tag Page
It was forty years ago (1968) when the Yardbirds finally disbanded and Jimmy Page assembled the mighty Led Zeppelin. In fact, the band’s first few gigs were billed as “The New Yardbirds,” but that didn’t last for long, as Led Zeppelin quickly defined their enormous sound and began their historic ascent to stardom.
The long-awaited [...]
It was forty years ago, July 1968 when The Yardbirds played their final gig at Luton Technical College in Bedfordshire, England. The lineup at that time was Keith Relf as lead singer and on harmonica, Jimmy Page on guitar, (Jeff Beck had already left the group by that time,) Chris Dreja on bass and [...]
I always liked the band Heart, not only because Ann and Nancy Wilson were both great vocalists, but also because they liked Led Zeppelin, and used those influences in their own music. My favorite Heart album is Dog & Butterfly because of the song “Mistral Wind,” which conjures up shades of Zeppelin from Physical [...]
The world’s most famous drum head, the hand-painted bass drum skin for The Beatles’ album “Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band,” sold to a private buyer for $1.1 million on Thursday July 10th. That made it the star attraction at Christie’s rock and pop memorabilia auction in London, among other items from The Beatles, [...]
Rhino Records has been my favorite record label for years. Those same zany folks offer their fantastic catalog and bizarre sense of humor online, and serve up all their latest music and video in CD, DVD, digital downloads, and of course, their awesome box sets.
Now they’re sharing their best video clips on YouTube on [...]

I was reading another one of the many stories about the Beatles music being available on iTunes, which turned about to be just another rumor. These are all over the internet but Sony music, who owns the licensing, denies any of these stories as true. At the end of this particular story on applesource, [...]

Jones will be arranging an orchestral piece as special guest conductor of a unique musical ensemble, performing a special version of the Foo Fighters’ “The Pretender.”

2007 was an amazing year for classic rock! We flashed back to the Summer of Love in 1967 and celebrated musical milestones like the Monterey Pop Festival. We saw some of our favorite groups reunite for a world tour, like Genesis and Van Halen. And [...]
Who says classic rock is dead?
2007 was a big year for classic rock band reunions, with some really big tours (like Genesis) and special shows (like Spinal Tap appearing at Live Earth and the recent Led Zeppelin benefit concert.)
Musicians, singers & songwriters who turned 60 this year:
Gregg Allman (Allman Brothers Band) Dec. 8

I really couldn’t write anything that hasn’t already been said about Led Zeppelin’s performance last Monday night. But some of what has been written is pretty good, so I’ve included links to some of my favorite posts. It’s no surprise there’s already video on YouTube, thanks to backpackdave (with over 600,000 hits in [...]
Tonight’s the big night, the big show, the ultimate reunion concert. Led Zeppelin at London’s O2 Arena, live on stage, to benefit the Ahmet Ertegun Education Fund. The concert was originally scheduled for late November until Jimmy Page injured a finger, setting the concert back until December 10th.
Rolling Stone Magazine has a good [...]
Led Zeppelin will release Mothership in less than a month. The collection has 24 tracks of the best known songs. The 3 remaining members of Led Zeppelin selected the tracks.
Now Led Zeppelin has some more good news for fans. For the first time you can now purchase Led Zeppelin digital music from iTunes. Also available [...]
It’s big news and already been blogged to death. Led Zeppelin has announced a reunion concert for November, along with another best of collection CD release. I have to say it’s wonderful to see a musical tribute to the late great Ahmet Ertegun, who nurtured so many artists and bands careers at , [...]
Between April 16 and 19 of next year, BAM will be hosting a showcase about famed choreographer Merce Cunningham called "Merce Cunningham At 90". Cunningham is often described as the world's greatest choreographer and so it only makes sense that, in his honor, a few of the world's greatest acts will pay him tribute--in music. During the ceremonies, the showcase will feature music from Sonic Youth, former Led Zeppelin bassist John Paul Jones, and mixed-media sound composer Takehisa Kosugi. T
BRITISH talent has dominated the nominations for record of the year at the US Grammy Awards. Coldplay, who earned a total of seven nominations, will compete with fellow Britons Adele, Leona Lewis, Led Zeppelin singer Robert Plant and MIA for the major honour at the awards show next year. The British rock band, Radiohead, and Plant will also face each other in the album of the year category while Welsh singer Duffy, who shot to number one with her catchy single, Mercy, and fellow British sou
As audacious and unnecessary as it seems to have a prime time special for an awards show that is merely about the nominees and not the awards show itself, the nominees for the 51st annual Grammy awards were unveiled last night. A complete list of all nominees can be found here, here. In the four major categories album, record, song of the year and best new artist the big winners look to be British rockers Coldplay, who earned a spot in each accept best new artist. Viva la Vida or D
Music absorption is the process that occurs between music discovery and the (self) conversion of an average music consumer into an active fan. I believe the music absorption process is radically different now than it was just two years ago, and understanding how this process has changed should impact your approach to succeeding in the music industry. The New Law of Music Absorption Consumers are rapidly accumulating vast libraries of songs from around the globe at unprecedented rates. As a

Photo Credit: APBoo! And here I thought music had a chance again!Reuters reports -- much to my chagrin -- that Creed is hammering out details for a lucrative 2009 reunion tour, sources tell Billboard. The Scott Stapp-led hard rock group, which was one of the top sellers of the past decade, has not performed since a rancorous split in June 2004.Stapp promptly embarked on a solo career, while guitarist Mark Tremonti, drummer Scott Phillips and original bassist Brian Marshall formed Alter Bridge wi
Warning, this post is long and typed at 2:32am. There may be errors. So what. Reposted from: http://hudshideout.com/blog Once again last night I hooked up with members of a guild other than the one I am in and ran all night with them. Oddly enough I am starting to get to know these people pretty well, and the funny thing is I am learning that they are a nice group to hang out with. I would like to give a shout out to Honor Guard guild on my server Drenden for grouping me the past two nights a
Two blues bands pass through Anaheim. I had heard the name Gov’t Mule and of its leader, guitarist Warren Haynes, bandied about in jam-band circles, but didn’t know their music. At one point, I downloaded a bootleg a portion of their 2007 Halloween show where they covered Led Zeppelin’s Houses of the Holy in its entirety. They sounded very good, but I knew there had...

The tracklisting and cover art to "New King Of The Blues", hard rockin' blues guitarist Joe Bonamassa's upcoming studio album 'The Ballad Of John Henry' has been revealed.Featuring 12 tracks, the long anticipated Kevin Shirley (Led Zeppelin, Iron Maiden, Aerosmith, The Black Crowes) produced follow up to 2007's critically acclaimed 'Sloe Gin', the album consists of 6 Bonamassa originals coupled with six cover versions, including Tom Waits' "Jockey Full Of Bourbon," British soulstress Sam Brown'
Remember the post I had up the other day which asked if you would photoshop Pettitte out of the picture should he leave the Yankees now? Apparently Joel Sherman has the same sentiment that I did. Apparently it’s a hefty pay cut the Yanks were going to give Pettitte. The NY Post today reports that the Yanks offered Andy $10M for 2009, a $6M cut. Javy Vazquez has supposedly been dealt to the Braves, pending a physical. Going from the White Sox to Atlanta are Vazquez, 12-16, 4.67 last year (ERA
By Mike Hedrick :: Flobots :: :: Gothic Theatre :: Dec. 29-31 :: Flow is a thing that, try as they might, not all hip-hop groups possess — especially when it calls for social action, but the Flobots have mastered the skill. Denver’s own socially conscious hip-hop group that made their name by using real instruments instead of beats will return home this New Year’s Eve for not just one, but a run of three shows at the Gothic. :: Slim Cessna’s Auto Club :: :: Bluebird Theatre :: Dec. 30 and 31 ::
You’re still with me? Remarkable. Okay, this is the third installment of my critique of common myths regarding copyright. In the first installment I focused on the canard that copyright stifles artists and that the purchaser of a work is the one with controlling rights. In the second I tackled the myth that copyright stifles innovation and addressed griping about creative industry business models. The series continues below. 5. “In the digital age, the marginal cost of reproduction and distrib
Bigger Than Their Bands Ted Leo and Ween Going Solo / ShepRitz How cool is it when big rock stars take a moment out of their busy rock-starry lives and visit with little people at little places? It almost makes them seem like normal eating, breathing, and sleeping humans. Perhaps that is a bit harsh, because the people I'm referring to, Ted Leo (of Ted Leo and the Pharmacists) and Gene Ween (of Ween), come off as two of the most laid back and down-to-earth guys when with their respective
[Today: Not gloating over the Civil War...] My cousin Chris went to Oregon St, and because I like him a lot I promised myself that I wouldn’t gloat over Oregon’s soul-crushing, record-setting, Rose Bowl-denying, 65-38 victory over the Beavers on Saturday. So instead I’m going to brag about a couple of vinyl box sets that were waiting on my doorstep after work on a most glorious post-Civil War beat down Monday: Led Zeppelin’s self-titled, 6-LP box set from 1990, and My Morning Jacket’s live Okon
Alter Bridge 'Hush-Hush' Over Led Zeppelin Rumors Alter Bridge star Myles Kennedy appears to have taken a step closer to fronting Led Zeppelin on tour after band mate Mark Tremonti

With Nickelback now alone atop the douche-rock heap, the members of Creed are ready to slice off a heap of the profits by putting aside their differences in the common pursuit of a big, fat payday. With "significant dollars" on the line, singer Scott Stapp and his former bandmates are in talks to hit the road in 2009, Billboard.com reports today. The group split acrimoniously in 2004, with Stapp embarking on a solo career and the other members -- guitarist Mark Tremonti, drummer Scott Phillip
