This DVD is a fascinating look behind the board, inside the studio, and into the heart and soul of the music we all know and love. Again I have to say, if you’re really into collecting music, this is a historical document and a must have for any fan of classic rock, R&B [...]
First, a full report: I found a very nice classical today and was very close to buying. I’m thinking about it. I’ll check at Ciderville tomorrow. Money’s tight and I have to be careful. Today, I had that lunch with Mark Brackney. And what a lunch! The owner of the buffet paid for our meals and sat with us. I ate all the food I can’t get in the north: chicken and dumplings, blackberry cobbler, corn bread, southern snap beans, blackberry cobbler, southern style rice, blackberry cobbler, meatloaf…
The annual Q Awards was held in London on Tuesday, and Coldplay were the ultimate winners on the day, picking up two massive awards. They won ‘Best Album’ for Viva La Vida, and ‘Best Act In The World Today’. Duffy picked up an award for ‘Breakthrough Artist’, while ‘Best New Act’ went to The Last Shadow Puppets. Kaiser Chiefs won ‘Best Live Act’ for their spirited and always lively stage presence, while Adam Ant won the ‘Q Icon’ award for being a legend. The full list of winners (courtesy o
I think one of the funniest things about certain subsets of rap and hip hop is watching rappers rap about how good they can rap. The Beasties, for instance, got more rhymes than Jamaica got mangoes. I love finding instances of rappers rapping about their ability to rap. Since I got nuked by Google back in July, I’ve probably spent a little too much time being a blogger who blogs about blogging. I am happy to say those days are hopefully over (at least, after today). I noticed a strange thing i
Meat Loaf arrived at Monday night’s Q Awards ceremony in London, to be awarded the “Q Classic Song gong” for his 1979 hit Bat Out Of Hell He apparently hit the red carpet looking disheveled, unsteady on his feet and spoke incoherently when he accepted his award on-stage. Host Al Murray interceded and after a bit of convincing, Meat Loaf agreed that they carry on at the pub. He needed assistance as he left the stage and fortunately no cameras were allowed inside the ceremony, to preserve the

There are several foods that I feel that I need to try in different parts of the world. From various incarnations of sandwiches to meatloaf and of course, pizza. Personally, I would love to try the various “best” pizza’s and if I can stay a week in Chicago, Boston and New York, I would love [...]
I suppose I have to join in the staff profile fun… Where are you from? I am a Boulder, CO mountain girl at heart, but I lived in a small town in Illinois for a few years during my formative years where, like Joe, I learned to appreciate the taste of Midwestern cuisine (meatloaf, corn, frozen peas, Jell-O with marshmallows, etc.). I also lived in Saudi Arabia and Alaska shortly after I was born, but I don’t really remember either spot so I guess they don’t count. Where do you live now? I have

Rock legend and Spiceworld star Meatloaf was taken to hospital yesterday evening after a worrying Q Awards appearance. Meatloaf was on hand to collect the Classic Song Award (for ‘Bat Out of Hell’) but struggled to make it onstage after an introduction from comedian Al Murray. Various tabloid reports indicate that Loaf, 61, behaved strangely during the show and then took 5 minutes to collect his award. He is said to have almost fallen from the stage during his acceptance speech, with host A
My tooth certainly doesn’t hurt as much as it did yesterday before the root canal, but it does still feel sensitive. As such - I’m loathe to eat/drink anything. I did have some leftover meatloaf last night as well as a bowl of cereal, after going almost 24 hours without eating or drinking anything for fear of the pain it might incur. I’m not allowed the painkillers the doctor prescribed because they may cause a reaction with the meds I’m on for the medical study. Fortunately, the pain has been

10.06.2008 Now for the continuation of our Alaska story: Friday: This would be the day that the local Anchorage attractions would be experienced and enjoyed. It's nice when you don't have to drive far to experience nature, so the botanical garden was on the to do list. However, a moose decided to wander in the gardens and die. No big deal right? Well, a dead moose is like Izzy's Pizza putting coupons in the newspaper for a free buffets. Well, instead of people flocking to the buffet, a

Not literally of course - though they seem like such nice boys, we wouldn’t be surprised.. . No, the band did in fact win two gongs at yesterday’s Q Awards ceremony in London. Chris Martin and co walked away with ‘Best Band in the World’ and ‘Best Album’ statuettes (the latter for ‘Viva La Vida or Death and All His Friends’), while Duffy and Keane were awarded ‘Best Breakthrough’ and ‘Best Track’ respectively.
