Pink Floyd fans around the world are mourning the passing of Richard Wright, who died of cancer today at age 65. Wright was a founding member of Pink Floyd and a contributing writer to many of the group’s memorable tracks, such as “Us And Them” and “The Great Gig In The Sky,” from ‘Dark [...]

By Bob Elliott, Canadian Baseball Network He stands 5-foot-9 and resembles a back-up infielder. Mike Gosse DH Mike Gosse sure stood tall for in his Oklahoma Sooners uniform. As former Montreal Expos manager Felipe Alou used to describe super sub F.P. Santangelo: “It’s not the size of the man, it’s the size of the heart inside the man.” Gosse has a 6-foot-6 heart. Gosse (senior, Pitt Meadows, BC) earned 35 first-place ballots to lead the way the ninth annual All-Canadian College Team. He h

According to Jim Street, six American League teams are among the group that has contacted free agent Ken Griffey Jr.. Based on some comments from Griffey's agent, you can be sure the Tampa Bay Rays are one of those teams. "Kenny realizes that he probably would be a middle-ground guy when it comes to salary," he said. "He also understands that a contract could include some incentives, but I don't think he'll price himself out of a job. He's never been about being the highest paid."...Goldberg sai

Aaron Rodgers did all he could, but that won't stop the haters out there from laying all the blame for this loss on him. I apologize for bringing my issues to everyone, but you don't have to listen to these people frothing at the mouth. You don't have to defend a quarterback who is among the top ten in the game in his first year of starting from vitriolic and irrational personal attacks. I liken their attitude to this quote from Robert DeNiro as Alphonse Capone in the four-star movie classic,

Hope you had a good Turkey Day! Jets QB Erik Ainge got popped for taking steroids. Ray Edwards was fined$25K for a dirty hit on Jeff Garcia. What’s up with the Vikings’ D-Line? The Jets ended Tennessee’s quest for perfection. Detroit managed to remain on their quest for perfect imperfection. T.O. had 213 receiving yards as the Cowboys rolled. Buffalo dropped 54 on Kansas City. They were passing it in the 4th still. They must have thought they were the Pats of last year. Speaking of

Tottenham took a huge stride towards the UEFA Cup round of 32 with a 1-0 victory at NEC Nijmegen, courtesy of Jamie O’Hara’s early strike. If you've visited the Tin Shed, you no doubt saw the trailer for Hand Cut, a backcountry skiing and snowboarding film by 1% For the Planet member, Sweetgrass Productions. The film's tour schedule will be winding down at the end of the year, but not before folks in the Santa Barbara area get a chance to see the film on the big screen. Hand Cut will be shown on December 4, as part of Santa Barbara Surfrider's Annual Holiday Party (details after the jump). For those who don't live in our neck of
The Buckeyes, along with the rest of the Big Ten, are in the clubhouse while most everyone else — minus 4 Pac-10 schools and a few Big East schools — finish up this weekend, conference title games notwithstanding. Presuming there’s anything interesting going on, it should be a nice occasion to stuff your face with leftovers while watching stirring rivalry games like LSU-Arkansas… and Colorado-Nebraska… and Auburn-Alabama… and Kentucky-Tennessee…. hmmmm… Anyways, here’s what’s on if you have n
...to choose just one, or two or three, even. Truly impossible. I had the most amazing start to my day this morning. I was all set to write a quick post (I only had time for quick) with boring photographs of the inside of my house (I spent the better part of Monday and Tuesday inside comforting our sweet and very sick Gavin) when I happened to glance out the window and catch a glimpse of this... Neither words nor photographs (though I took over 100 photographs this morning trying) ca
Posted by Zach on November 26, 2008 I’m starting to believe this Syracuse team can finish in the top five in the Big East. Why? Primarily because there’s no way they would have won that overtime thriller against the Kansas Jayhawks last year. In Kansas City with thousands of screaming Rock Chalk diehards. Down double digits in the second half. This is a new Syracuse team. Not one that folds defensively, makes careless turnovers, has absolutely no depth and won’t make adjustments. Hell, Jim Boe
(Sorry I have to plug myself for one second- I have a new line of wallpapers with Hygge & West that just launched and you could check out here. That’s it. Thank you. Happy Thanksgiving!) I checked out the Picturebox mega-sale this weekend and walked home with my arms full. Then I found a bookshelf on the street and my piling up problem was solved. It was a good day. Anyway, this book, For the Love of Vinyl, is one of their newest titles. It’s all about the the design company Hipgnosis, headed
On October 25th my wife and I took in Strangers on a Train at the AFI Silver in Silver Spring, Maryland. It was a great experience to see it on the big screen for the first time after having seen it so many times on the small screen exclusively. Once again it was a wonderful audience who laughed and gasped at all the right places and once again the film historian introducing it went on a little too long and offered up a little too much elementary interpretation for what we were about to see. Indiana & Kelvin Sanctions (cont.). The big news of the day was of course that Indiana managed to avoid postseason sanctions even though they’ll formally be on probation for the next three seasons. Kelvin Sampson, to his credit, took responsibility for the complete lack of oversight at Indiana ‘while on his watch,’ but at least once Tom Crean gets this program moving in the right direction again, the Hoosiers won’t also be burdened by the crimson scarlet letter of postseason sanctions.
