Sega Toys has announced that they are going to release the “Home Juke Box” this October. The juke box has fully functioning disc changer (with tiny little vinyls), funky glowing lights, 20 pre-loaded ’golden oldie’ tracks, plus the ability to load more songs via the SD Card slot. Users operate the device by inserting (100 Yen) coins into it, like a real juke box. But I have to say, that is one of the worst adverts I have ever seen… for anything. Ever. I once called Charlie Parker a hack. I was a kid. It was the seventies. My favorite bands were Mott The Hoople and Roxy Music. Jazz, to me, was anything without lyrics. "Yakety Sax" by Boots Randolph? Jazz. "Love Is Blue" by Paul Mauriat? Jazz. What did I know? (Amanda Traeger, if you're out there, I'm sorry. Charlie Parker is not a hack.) I'd like to say that I learned my lesson, that wisdom and age have made me choose my words carefully, simply to win friends and influence people. But that's

Its that time again, time for the random fact. This fact was taken from this lovely Versailles fansite (which you should visit). Yet again it is from the A-kon Q&A Panel. What is your greatest influence, musically? Kamijo: John Williams and Paul Mauriat. What do the ST readers have to say about that?
Click on picture for closer look. It’s always amazing to me how music floats through our mind – or at least it does mine! Those stupid commercials that float through your brain when you get up to use the bathroom at 3am…. And then there are the songs that transport you to a time when you were younger, maybe in school or maybe when you were first married or maybe when your child started school. When I was taking the pictures of this African Sodalite, golden coral and Swarov

Been getting things together to leave town for a few days; Friday morning we'll be leaving for south central Utah, and not coming back until sometime Monday. Hopefully I'll have a few interesting pictures for those who are interested. Right now I'm fighting with a bit of a head cold, hopefully I can shake it by the time we go. I may get a chance to post something before we go, but who knows?********************************************Monday is our anniversary; 35 years of marriage. Where doe

Change did happen. The advent of the CD. Luckily, around that time I still had about 8 stylus, so that kept me going for a while. I would only occasionally buy a new album, and was very slow to get into the CD craze as I could still play the albums, and those original quality CD players were pretty expensive. As the record player slowly degraded, I was lucky because I had recorded most of them to cassette, so I could always play them as well when I needed music, which was on a regular basis.
