The James Hyman Gallery and Paul McCartney have announced a new exhibition of photographs by Linda McCartney. It’s her first major photo exhibition in the UK, and a labor of love from the McCartney family, mainly Paul and daughter Mary.
Here’s a YouTube video of Paul speaking about the photos, many never seen before.

Card making has always been one of my passions. Using clear elements makes them that much more special. And they are really easy to incorporate! Designing cards with clear element is all about conceal and reveal. For example, I designed these two hybrid cards to be used for giving a gift card. So here comes trouble. But this is a good trouble to have. You see there is just enough area on the card front that is OPAQUE (covered with paper) that you cannot see the contents inside. S
first triptych I don't have much to say. I fell back asleep on the couch after we awoke this morning. Mr. L usually wakes me up again with a cuppa coffee and a request for a smoothie. This morning he let me sleep, and boy did I. I woke up when he got out of the shower. He had already packed his lunch, made his tea, and made a fire in the fireplace. He also opened the coconut oil bucket so that I could make soap today. What a sweetheart of a man I have. So today I am going to just ma
The Hollywood Reporter and Variety, entertainment industry journals, are reporting today that the acclaimed IFC documentary is on the short list of documentaries that will be considered for an Academy Award. "Oscar Watch: Documentary, " is THR's report.Of the 15 features the Academy's documentary branch members are now being asked to screen over the holiday season, approximately 10 could be described as social-issue films, with varying degrees of didactic intent. Even within that category, the
"A Man is Defined by the Life He Lives" I did 3 pieces of work for Carolyn. Her husband passed away earlier this year and she wanted something special for his Children. She offered the most beautiful selection of photographs, and ephemera... just perfect. When ruffling through the trumpet sheet music she provided, I stumbled on a sheet of paper where Donald had drawn music notes... he had rendered his own sheet of music. You will see this small little half sheet spread out among all

Our apologies for the disturbing nature of these photographs. Yes, this model DOES appear to be wearing a shagpile carpet on her torso. No, we have no idea why. This crime was reported to us by Officer Jannet, and we've instantly put out an APB on this item, which can be purchased from Miss Sixty. The final insult? It's £70. Someone pass us the smelling salts...

The Gift (still life) by Cindy Iverson (me)Texture from playingwithbrushes. Each day I have such a multi-faceted, odd, and eclectic daily "to do" list. Yesterday, I was post-processing photographs and making rose photographs into "vintage" illustrations. Today, I was out in the back garden with a circular saw cutting up the remains of the lumber that used to be the shed.I used to think that I was the weirdest woman in the world and that no one could possibly "get me" except my nutty family and
I've blogged before on the topic of "virtuous junk food." People often fall into a trap of thinking that just because something is organic, or vegan, or gluten-free (or whatever), it's good for you and/or can be consumed in unlimited quantities. But the truth is that whole food grocery stores are just as full of over-processed, empty calories as any other grocery store. So, I was interested to see this story in the Times. A couple of wise guys showed people photographs of a meal from a chai
When I got this phone a few months ago, it came with two different face plates. One set of dark blue and one set of red. Since blue is my favorite color, I went with that. But, now that it’s December, the month of Christmas and the month that I’m getting married, I’ve decided to change up the plates to be a representation of the magical month that I’m now living in.I guess that’s just the way I am, I attach meaning and significance to a lot of things in my life. That’s something that became very
Posted by Sandy in photographs. Tags: architecture, photographstrackback I love red brick buildings and Portland, Maine has lots of them. We drove by a brick yard today, and that got me thinking of all the beautiful, old buildings in town. Here are two from my building folder. The window shot was taken at the Henry Wadsworth Longfellow house, and the other just when we were driving around. Both of these photos have gone through the watercolor filter in Corel because I like what it does to bri
I’ve written this post as both a personal journal and roadmap, as well as to discuss our activities in use of educational and/or other technologies to facilitate the learning experiences of our 4-year old. My daughter (nearly 4 years old) has grown up with a father who is glued to technology for ridiculous amounts of time each day - be this a desktop, laptop, iPod, mobile phone, digital camera, web camera, or myriad of different software packages and operating systems. Not surprisingly she ha
Ruby Hornet recently conducted a very in-depth interview with Estevan Oriol entitled ‘Don’t Sweat The Technique.’ The interview also features some of Estevan’s best photographs as well. Make sure you check the interview out here!
By Pich Samnang, VOA Khmer Original report from Phnom Penh 02 December 2008 [Editor’s note: As part of the Swedish Cambodian Friendship Association, Gunnar Bergstrom spent 14 days in Cambodia in 1978 and was given a public relations tour by top leaders of the regime. Only later did he learn of the nearly 2 million who died under Democratic Kampuchea. Bergstrom returned to Cambodia for the first time in 30 years for a two-week tour of the country, displaying photographs he took in 1978, in
I decided to be a little creative and started a new group. Missouri and other 'Midwest' neighbors I know there is one other Missouri group on VOX, but it does not seem to be generating very many members so I thought I would start one that included Missouri's Midwest neighbors. I have a picture on it right now that is not a very good one of the Arch. I will have to look thru my old photographs and see if there is a better one that I can use as the profile photo. Who knows I may have to plan a tr
For those who have ever had their cell phone stolen, you know the headache it causes. Gone is all of the contact information for every person you know. Gone is your calendar which tells you where you need to be and when. Gone are your personal photographs and videos. The only thing you may actually get from having your cell phone stolen is an enormous charge on your next bill for all of the calls the thief made before you could report it stolen. For some though, a stolen cell phone is not

Last week's murderous terrorist attacks in Mumbai revived memories of my month's stay in that fascinating Indian city as an American soldier during the late winter of 1944. (I still find it hard to accept that the city was renamed from Bombay in 1996 in order to shed colonial Portugese and British influences and to restore the city's Hindu origins.)I arrived there in mid-February aboard the HMS Empress of Scotland, a British passenger ship that had been converted into a troopship. The vessel car
Miley Cyrus is supposedly getting some Oscar buzz for the song she co-wrote and performed for the Disney movie ‘Bolt’. The LA Times said that the song ‘I Thought I Lost You’ is a presumptive favorite in the category of Best Original Song. Miley performs the song with John Travolta in the movie. If I have to pray in every faith known to the world, I will, if they can all say that her song will not be nominated. If that can be granted, I’ll soon wish for Miley to just fall off the face of the p
