Events like the Grammys are great learning moments. There’s so much more to most of these artists than their “hit songs.” Once you dig into their catalog and their roots, you find all kinds of things you may not have known before. But one thing’s for sure. This year’s [...]

*This has turned historically bad for the Kings. There have been far worse beatings and many longer stretches wandering aimlessly in the dark, as if any veterans of this roller coaster need reminding. For lack of heart and lack of judgment, though, for really going it without a flashlight, the last four games hold up for the generations: the missed free throws, the perimeter defense, the overtime technical against the Nets; giving up 44 points in the third quarter against the Nets; scoring 78 p
Jack Nicholson and Jane Fonda are two of the nine citizens being inducted into the California Hall of Fame that honors individuals who have helped the state. The two stars are joined by other California helpers including chef Alice Waters, fitness guru Jack LaLanne, musicians Dave Brubeck and Quincy Jones, and sculptor Robert Graham. They will be honored at a ceremony taking place on December 15th in Sacramento, capital to the sunshine state. A little bit of history for you, Jane Fonda’s indu
Jocelyn Brown is one of my favorite songstresses of all time and it was listening to divas like her that made me fall in love with house music. She’s been recording since the mid-1960s and is well known for her disco, soul and funk-based music. Jocelyn Brown has worked with everyone who matters, from Quincy Jones to Luther Vandross to Michael Jackson. The first time I heard Jocelyn Brown’s voice was when I was 15 years old on the classic club anthem ”I’ve Got The Power” by Snap (she was unc
Yup, Alderman Quincy Troupe is one of the few Democrats who is still a REAL Democrat and not just some Commie Libtard in sheep’s clothing! He has long championed 2nd Amendment rights here in Missouri and St. Louis. By Jake WagmanST. LOUIS POST-DISPATCH 12/02/2008 ST. LOUIS — Alderman Charles Quincy Troupe’s neighborhood has seen nine homicides in 10 months this year, more than all but one other section of the city. With gunplay wreaking havoc on his ward, Troupe thinks he has found an answer:

The Atlantis story has been a myth and legend—lost for millennia, captivating the imagination of historians, relic hunters, and romantics over the ages who dream about finding this lost city and all its treasures lying somewhere in the depths of the vast oceans. Now, through the past week’s celebrations, this mythical island has risen from the depths of the Arabian Gulf in Dubai. In the City of Dubai, cultures co-exist in harmony providing a welcoming and multi-national environment in this r
Throughout the history of pop music, few things have been more important than the relationship between artists and their producers. Legendary hit makers like Quincy Jones and Timbaland helped transform singers like Michael Jackson and Justin Timberlake into musical icons. Staying in line with this formula for success, Def Jam is set to re-direct the face of popular music with all-girl singing group, Electrik Red. Paired with Grammy Award-winning writing/production team The Dream and Tricky Stewa
Lots of little moving parts today for the Cowboys. So I’ll try to sum it up as best I can with help from a few sources. First, neither DeMarcus Ware nor Marion Barber are practicing today and both are listed as day-to-day. Ware will probably practice sometime this week and might wear a knee-brace. Barber isn’t talking much and they don’t expect him to practice this week, but my guess is he’ll play this weekend. Here’s what he said to the press: One group of reporters took a run at Barber
Blame astrology, numerology or just coincidence—some people who share a birthdate have more in common than the day they were born. Witness the following 10 sets of birth twins. 1. Charles Darwin and Abraham Lincoln (February 12, 1809) Two of the outstanding figures of the 19th century were both raised as Christians, though Darwin died an atheist and Lincoln was reportedly an outspoken non-believer. Both had unimpressive school records, but taught themselves to rise to the peaks of their profes

With the Huskies and Seahawks' seasons all but finished, there really isn't much interesting news outside of college basketball. Gonzaga Men’s Basketball Team: The Bulldogs won the Old Spice Classic, defeating No. 12 Tennessee in the finals. Ranked No. 9, the Zags were lead by Steven Gray with 19 points. Gonzaga will look to make a deep run in the NCAA tournament this year. And in a year without the NBA, Seattle sure would appreciate it. Grade: A Quincy Pondexter, UW Men’s Basketball Team: Pon
Wade Phillips said the team still has to make one more roster move to get Pacman Jones to the active roster. Phillips said Pacman Jones will play Sunday in Pittsburgh. Does the team cut Quincy Butler? Miles Austin (knee) is at least a week away from practicing. DeMarcus Ware will practice with a knee brace on Wednesday, if he practices, and might use it in Sunday's game. Marion Barber, from listening to Phillips, won't practice this week. Expect Tashard Choice and Alonzo Coleman to get
With Hillary Clinton almost certain to become President-elect Barack Obama’s Secretary of State on Monday, former President Bill Clinton can capitalise on his wife’s success by taking over her New York Senate seat. William T. Cunningham, a New York communications executive and former top adviser to New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg, said it would be fascinating to watch Bill Clinton heading the Senate Committee on Foreign Relations and interviewing his wife on her actions as Secretary o

Obama is being inundated with requests, but this one stood out to me: A petition drive, inspired by musician Quincy Jones, for the establishment of a Secretary of the Arts, a cabinet level position to encourage, preserve and maintain our significant artistic and cultural heritage. This is on a par with what most other industrialized countries put in place long ago. The petition language is a little sparse (especially with such a passionate cause!) but more background and rationale can be found
