Yes is one of my favorite progressive rock bands. The Yes Album, my first and favorite of their LP’s in 1971, got more spins than a presidential candidate in an election year. The band’s virtuosity on “Yours Is No Disgrace,” “Starship Trooper” and “I’ve Seen All Good People” is simply amazing.

Too many notes
In my progressive youth which involved being into prog-rock bands like Yes, Genesis, Supertramp, 10CC, Pink Floyd and ELP, there was a joker in the pack in the form of Rick Wakeman. Rick was a classically trained pianist who produced several thematic albums during the early 70s, notably the six wives of Henry Eighth, Journey to the centre of the earth and The myths & legends of King Arthur and his Knights of the Round Table. (Apparently an over the top tour of the latter bankrupted him). T

From Historic Royal Palaces: In 1972, Rick Wakeman, the keyboard player with the supergroup Yes, released one of the most iconic albums of all time, The Six Wives of Henry VIII. The album was a massive success all over the world and to date has sold more than 15,000,000 copies on both vinyl and CD.
