Posting The Black Keys - Levels of Hell 1 thru 3The Black Keys - Strange Times We used three cameras for the production of The Black Keys Private Artist Showcase: 2 x Canon HV20 recording HDV 1080p24 1 x Canon HF10 recording AVCHD 1080p24 Ideally, we would have had 3 HV20’s for total parity. Alas, Mike the Mailman decided to purchase the Canon HF10 which records 1440×1080 [...]
Strange Times - Posting The Black KeysYou may know about The Black Keys. And you may know about the Canon HF10 and HV20 cameras. Throw them in a pot with a slathering of blood sweat and tears, a tablespoon of the right industry connections, and mix with 12 hours of your life that you will never, ever get back, then bring to [...]
Playlist of the Week REDUX Jeepers, looking at the entry below for the playlist of the week, you'd think I was ready to walk in front of a speeding 18-wheeler. Could I have chosen any songs with more depressing titles? Crazy thing is I was in a good mood when I posted that list of songs. So, here's a playlist of songs I recommend besides those downers: "I'm So Lonesome I Could Cry" by Hank Will...KIDDING. Here we go: "Blackberry" by The Black Crowes. From Three Snakes and One Charm. "Supernatural Superser

Meow Picks (Episode 6) - Not a Mix I know you’re upset. I’m one day late. But after spending days and nights arguing the definition of a mix with the Stranger, I came to the conclusion that, alas, Meow Mix was not a mix. This is partially my fault - I never really intended it to be a mix, but rather a collection of some songs I’ve been listening to in the past week. And if I’m lucky maybe there a couple of bands in there that you’ve never heard of before. After all, that’s the only reason to come back, right? Anyways, we shall
OBVIOUSLY its about the music What I’m listening to right now: Paper Planes by M.I.A. One of the funniest interviews I’ve ever seen with one of my favorite bands. They just completely ignore this poor girl and go on about Insane Clown Posse and what Oprah people would match up to what McDonald’s characters and whatever they seem to feel like talking about while sitting in bed. Whether you even know who these guys are or not, its still hilarious (and if you don’t, then where the fuck have you been?). They do point out som
BET Awards 2008: Were You There Many celebrities performed at the BET Awards in Los Angeles, California. Even if you are not a celebrity, you could at least sit among them. There was Usher, Alicia Keys, Kanya West, Nelly, Jill Scott, Rihanna, Keishia Cole, NeYo and many others. Many people think you have to be a celebrity in order to be among them but that’s not true. You can be very wealthy or just a multimillionaire to afford a ticket at the next BET (2009) Awards. We can definitely show you how. Although, you may not be

Mid-Year Favorites Of 2008 For this post, I got in touch with a few of my friends and fellow KY bloggers to see what some of their favorite albums of the year are so far. I think it’s good to add a little contrast to my list, which will probably be pretty predictable if you’ve been reading CA for a while. I know this whole thing is a little bit late, but hopefully this will help people make a more informed decision on the music they’re purchasing when they head out to the record store or get on iTunes. With this leak
Patrick Carney vs Animal from the Muppets Here’s a few photos of Pat in action from the gig in Sydney on 21 June. I like the progression of the blur showing an increasing frenzy of movement. To see the intensity of his drumming not wavering after an 1.5 hours of playing is really inspiring, so committed, with great unintentional drummer gurning (face pulling) throughout. I can only hope that one day Pat might have a drum battle with Animal from the Muppets (if Animal comes out of retirement) like Buddy Rich did in the video I’ve po
Beck: Modern GuiltOn Monday, June 9th, Beck decided to do what he always does in advance of a new album: hit the stage at the Echo in L.A. and play some crazy shit no one’s ever heard before. He continues to refer to these outings as “surprise” shows, but how much of the element of surprise Beck’s [...]
The Black Keys at Metro City Fremantle - 22-06-2008 To close out the two gig weekend, one found a still and cold Sunday night lining up outside the pub strip on South Street in Fremantle in preparation to enter one of the more unconventional venues in the greater Perth live music scene. Metropolis Fremantle normally wears the shiny short skirted clothes of a night club (and ironically as I type and sit on my lounge in front of the TV, an add for said club appears), but on select nights, it pulls on the flannel shirt and the lace up boots of a g
The Saturday Mix #5 (Audio) The Saturday Mix for the week of June 22nd. All songs are courtesy of Drop Magazine and XXL. Write-ups follow the track. Here’s the remix to Lil’ Wayne’s “A Milli”. This song annoys the shit out of me, but I figured that I’d throw it up anyway. Lil’ Wayne is OK…..but I don’t see what all the excessive hype is about. He’s not in the same league as the other all time greats….I’m sorry…but he’s just not. It doesn’t matter how many records he sells. Wale rocks over the “Mr. Carter” instrument
Concert Poster of the Day 6/28/08I know we had a Black Keys poster yesterday, but that one was so good I needed another. The Black Keys (wiltern Theatre '08)
Circles In the regular course of life I probably would not have met Matt. And since he spends a lot of time on the river, I know that we would not have run into another in the midst of our hobbies....but because we enjoy and are open to the perspectives, outlook and life meanderings of others, here in cyberspace is where we got the opportunity to meet, share and visit. What a world! --Sheila from Black Tennis Pros We all have circles we revolve in, but unlike the nearly concentric orbits in which the

Yes we all love opening day, getting all dressed up in a cute dress if you’re a lady, with a hat to match. Nothing like 4 o’ clock Fridays to make it a true San Diego summer. And dude, DEVO is f
