Guillaume de Beurre was a master among master masons. In all of France there were none better. If a Duke one day decided, while stroking his drooping moustache, “I want a new castle, something crenellated,” or, “Perhaps my naves aren’t vaulted enough,” then Guillaume was the man for the job. So very dismayed was Guillaume when a nice new keep in the Norman fashion, nineteen months in the making, came crashing down one fine spring day. The masonry crumbled and fell; limestone blocks the size of
Along the Rhône, just upstream of AvignonAlong the river Rhone going downstream, mid-afternoon. There are quite a few sailboats and pleasure craft cruising down the Rhone in autumn. Many come from the UK, Belgium or the Netherlands to spend the winter in the Mediterranean, a nice option for those who prefer milder climates. France has an extensive network of canals which you can use to sail down from the Channel or the North Sea all the way south to the Mediterranean. The quiet and relaxed condi
Apparently Al Qaeda number 2 (assuming number 1 still respires "air" in the oxygen-deprived altitudes of Waziristan, and still has kidneys functionally filtering at a level somewhat north of a thrice-used coffee filter) Ayman "Popeye" al-Zawahri has used a "racial...

http://stellify.net But...why? Here’s the introductory paragraph for the article, Tables: The Next Evolution in CSS Layout, which I found cute. Today, a talented web designer must be a modern-day MacGyver—that 80s TV action hero who could turn a rubber band and three tin cans into a serviceable aircraft. Turning the average site design mockup into a living, breathing slice of HTML and CSS is a comparably delicate miracle, which must be accomplished using whatever makeshift tools happen to be
Oh, great. After the long wait and speculation, my favorite cinema in UAE announced that Twilight would be shown on 4th of December. It would be released in the US this friday and in the Philippines on the 26th. I.am.jealous. Meaning I need more patienceeeee (!) in the coming days. I promise myself not to peek on any reviews and other form of spoilers until I see this for myself. Huhuhu. What a test of EQ. Sige na nga, okay lang. At least, it’s still a better playdate. Sourgraping. Haha.
Visionaires Fail to Sell at Sotheby's Santa must not have received our e-mails, letters, calls, faxes, or artisanal chocolate-studded candygrams, because yesterday at Sotheby's in London, that lot of all 53 issues of Visionaire (at right) went unsold. The mind-boggling collection of 17 years worth of the thrice-yearly limited edition publication failed to fetch its reserve price, which would have been under the auction house's lot estimate of £15,000-£20,000 (a range of about $22,000 to $30,000
Posted by meetsudeshna on November 19, 2008 I have just joined Glaxo SmithKline Ltd for my Post Graduate internship. I have become so busy with the work that I couldn’t even think about writing a post for my blog. Yesterday I got a scrap from a school friend. She is presently staying in Bangladesh and as she says there are very few options for any vegan dishes. She requested me to write about some vegetarian dishes for her. I just could not leave out her request and so thought of posting this d
Here's Multimedia Editor Emeritus, Biker Dude and Deep Thinker John Lindner with this week's Shallow Thought Wednesday. I'm sure everyone expected it to be on creamed corn. I know I did. How many of you had to look up "elutriate"? It sure wasn't on my word-of-the-day calendar. What about "salubrious"? EL "In preparation for Thanksgiving, I spent Saturday morning cleaning my metaphysical closet. Of course, when you tidy up the MC, you elutriate your very soul. And all such purgings, like, for

Gosh! It's already a week had past and we still do not have our internet connection back. Grrr.. Almost thrice everyday that I had been calling and reminding the costumer service hotline of smart telecommunications regarding our concern. They were just telling me to wait for 24 hours. And telling you, I almost to memorize all the blah blah blahs of (just some) irate customer service representatives. hehe. One CSR, I think he is a gay , that I had talked with called me SIR, grrrrrrrrr.. my temper
As promised just two posts down, I’m posting the recipe for the Homemade Shrimp and Pork Siomai that I made the other day. I got it from here. Making these siomai from scratch was another first for me, not counting the time we made dumplings for a soup (Molo Soup) during Home Economics class in high school. The effort I exerted in making the wrappers was not left unrewarded. Both Hubby and Abby complimented the wrappers, saying that they were good. But I will probably buy ready made wra
it was 1989. i was 19 years old, going to college at southern utah university in cedar city, utah. getting a job was a necessary evil--my parents were paying for my rent and school, but for some reason frowned on me laying around listening to milli vanilli on my walkman and watching mtv. part of the deal was me getting gainful employment, but jobs were scarce in that small town. so i applied for the job that every college student was working at: nise corporation telemarketing. i got the positi
I’m just curious if anyone has a review or opinion on this author’s works. I’m thinking about ordering one or more of them. I, Jacqueline “A historical fiction that presents the life and loves of Jacqueline of Hainaut, thrice married, thrice imprisoned and ransomed; the extraordinary 15th-century life of a woman who endured the power politics of the courts of England, Burgundy, and France.” Harlot Queen “Isabella of France was proud to be wed to the handsome Edward II of England, bu
So, here's the thing. We're the first to admit that pulling the Deathwatch switch these days is like shooting fish in a barrel, but calls for the DW have shot up tenfold, and said bloodthirst is wholly warranted: Dining rooms are increasingly turning into ghost towns (even Mozza's seen a slight downtick), more and more places are on the market, several newbies have already earned stillbirth status, while promotions get more desperate. Paychecks are bouncing, heavies are bowing out, and invest
Remember my Friso Nuffnang post? I just received an email from Nuffnang yesterday and our family has been selected to attend the event! I am so excited and have been begging Husband to go for the event and he agreed though reluctantly. Oh well, it doesn't matter as long as I get to go to the event anyway. Heheh. Since I started this blog a few months ago I have never met any blogger and it would be great to meet fellow bloggers at the Nuffnang Friso gathering. So if any of you are also going do
