We’re aware that social networking is cool and is increasingly being used by musicians, artists and bands to spread the word about their music. MySpace, Facebook and YouTube get a a lot of press about it.
Now we’re reading about music artists creating their own social networking sites, so they have direct access to [...]
TRIPPING THE DARK FANTASTICIn June 2005 I had a dream set in Savannah, a city I'd visited briefly, twice. Like many writers, I've learned to listen to my dreams, and I wrote this one down: the story of a man and woman meeting in a Savannah café, told from the point of view of their daughter. The daughter's voice was what I remembered best when I awoke; it was fresh yet bittersweet, with a measured cadence that lingered with me.I read the narrative to my family, and a day later to my agent, over
The Velvet Underground (original version), 1970: from Loaded With his deadpan vocals and incredible talent, the ever-stylish Lou Reed was the arbiter of coolness back in the day. If it weren???t for the inventive rock stylings of his influential band The Velvet Underground, I???m not sure a lot of the rock I love today would ever have existed. Having inspired rock n??? roll, it appears their hit ???Sweet Jane??? struck a chord in the hearts of fans and musicians alike. Not only is it one of my
There’s a rumor going around that Billy Howerdel’s Ashes Divide have broken up. To which I say: HUH? Was Ashes Divide ever a real band? I always thought it was just a Howerdel solo project with a cooler name, the same way Nine Inch Nails is really just Trent Reznor. So what the fuck is going [...]
…and much like the smelly kids in class, everybody’s talking about us…the Millennials in the Mist: -Apparently Ireland has computers now. Who knew? Cool article on SiliconRepublic about our techy-ness. Not really news to anybody that has a finger on the pulse of reality, but good to know nonetheless. A new study saying millennials like technology is as “eureka!” as a new study saying rain is wet, or Trent Reznor’s a badass… -Lawn & Landscape holds it down with some advice for employers/su

Last night, I got to be a kid again… When you live in Los Angeles, it’s next to impossible to get tickets (at face value) for a rock concert. All the record label big-wigs chew up huge allotments of tickets and nothing is ever left for the fans. Plus, I pretty busy making movies so I never had time to go to a show. Then I had kids. And there was no chance in hell of getting out of the house ever again. But last night… things were different. L.A. Mommy got me tickets to go see Nine Inch Nail
Nine Inch Nails - Copps Coliseum in Hamilton Ontario, Canada November 14, 2008 Review by Nathan Allen Photos by Yves Lepage It was a rainy Friday evening in Hamilton, when the legendary Nine Inch Nails brought their much-anticipated Lights in the Sky over North America Tour to the stage at Copps Coliseum. The only reason I ended up with tickets for this show was because my girlfriend had been inspired to see Trent Reznor after having a provocative dream about him, and as luck would have i

And frontman Trent Reznor insists they have now found the perfect drummer to take over from Freese, according to Blabbermouth.net. He writes on the band's website, "I had the chance to

See The Music XVIII - Come Again Photos and Story by Beana Bern Listening to Jerry sing Mission in the Rain, drinking peppermint tea with a little Doozer curled by my lap seems like a nice opportunity to tell a story about the good old days…now longer ago than I can believe…but instead, I am going to refrain from telling you about the time I saw the Grateful Dead alone at Giant’s Stadium and walked around the venue no less than four times looking for Fat Albert, my Toyota minivan. I am also
Because playing these albums in flagrante delicto is the only romantic gesture lamer than offering a woman a fish sandwich. 10. Cornball Stevie Wonder Songs (I.E. “You are the Sunshine of My Life.” “I Just Called to Say I Love You”) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uPyq4iqt6Go I’m not going to tell you that these songs don’t serve a purpose–they do: father-daughter dances at Bat-Mitzvah’s, weddings between accountants and interpreted with polyester flair by Marty and Elayne at the Dr
Nine Inch Nails just announced that drummer Ilan Rubin of Lostprophets will replace Josh Freese behind the kit in 2009. Freese recently announced his plans to leave the group. The guy’s 20 years old. Jesus. I shudder, thinking of the bullshit I was up to at 20. Trent Reznor had the following to say: “With great pride and excitement I announce the addition of Ilan Rubin to the lineup beginning next year. I had the chance to see Ilan playing his ass off at Reading and Leeds a couple summers

Saul Williams talks about Niggy Tardust, one year later. He seems rather happy about how it turned out (even though Trent Reznor was disheartened by the numbers), but isn't sure yet how he'll release his next album.
