Where To Meet Singles In Prince Edward Island November 20th, 2008 at 1:22am This Canadian province calls itself a Gentle Island. Maybe it is because of the people who live in this province and their gentle manner or their friendliness. Whatever the case you should consider yourself lucky if you are dating in Prince Edward Island. However, if you have not met with a person who is single in Prince Edward do not worry. You can make time and visit all the interesting places that are in this provin
Most Likely To: further legitimize digital only releases. One of the best things about Exposion, the debut full-length from Austin, TX trio White Denim, is that it is tough to categorize. White Denim takes a bunch of blues-tinged puzzle pieces and assembles a record that may well sound as good in a decade as it does today. Exposion is worth a (legal) download because it shows what three scruffy guys like James Petralli (vocals, guitar), Joshua Block (bass), and Steve Terebecki (drums) can do
The Velvet Underground (original version), 1970: from Loaded With his deadpan vocals and incredible talent, the ever-stylish Lou Reed was the arbiter of coolness back in the day. If it weren???t for the inventive rock stylings of his influential band The Velvet Underground, I???m not sure a lot of the rock I love today would ever have existed. Having inspired rock n??? roll, it appears their hit ???Sweet Jane??? struck a chord in the hearts of fans and musicians alike. Not only is it one of my
Deerhunter [review: Erik Thompson] [photos: Jeremy Nelson] It’s never a good sign when the first thing Deerhunter frontman Bradford Cox says to the audience is “I’ve got some bad news to tell you.” I immediately became worried that the show was in jeopardy, but it just turned out that guitarist Whitney Petty was back at the hotel with the flu, and unfortunately wouldn’t be making the gig. So, it would be up to Bradford and Lockett Pundt to manage the guitar assault for the evening, a task

I remember it clearly: on Saturday nights in suburban New Jersey, my best friend and I would whip out our Gothic Lolita best, and drive to a neighboring town to see a weekly midnight showing of The Rocky Horror Picture Show. We'd trade bellbottom Levi's and faded tanks for velvet pants, lace tops, fishnets and silky mini-dresses - all in black of course - finishing our looks with inky lipstick and black eyeliner so thick that Cleopatra would be impressed. Though we looked like ghouls (with a da

Canadian Actor Michael Cera was born June 7, 1988 in Brampton, Ontario, Canada. A Canadian comedy best actor nominee in 2008 for playing Superbad and Juno. This actor played very well in Juno and as I mentioned above he was being nominated as one of the best comedy actor in 2008. Well, speaking of that movie they did well also in choosing Juno Soundtrack in which most of the teenagers worldwide grab the play lists in music stores and download also free on the Internet. Music From Juno was very
Last night, I had the pleasure of attending a screening of some of Kenneth Anger’s most recent short films - hosted by Mr. Anger himself. The legendary "underground filmmaker" was surprisingly youthful and energetic for a guy born in 1927, looking not much older than he does in the picture at left, taken decades ago. He began the program (in typical Anger fashion, I suspect) by complaining about the quality of the projection at the Disney Concert Hall’s Redcat Theater where the event took place.
[from The Heartstring Noodle Bar] I felt the blinding headlights slide across my back and then angle off in another direction altogether. Soon the cacophany of sound and glare was moving pleasantly off into the night, and I was left alone in the semi-darkness with Hans and the candy penyata boy. The night was warm this far from the ocean, and the harsh coastal breezes had subsided into soundless breaths of tired air. The desolate station lay in arid scrubland littered with the corpses of many
It was always clear to me that Fabrizio Moretti was the coolest Stroke. Julian Casablancas tries too hard to be hip, and Nick Valensi looks far too much like Euro-trash to be from New York, which is totally uncool. Let’s face it, Albert Hammond and Nikolai Fraiture never even had a chance. Fab Moretti has gone ahead and perfected the apathetic musician look. That 5-day-old scruff, an almost unnoticeable slouch…I bet he probably raises his eyebrows often. I’d like to hang out with him, sit in a
Forget Stan Lee. That’s going to fill the headlines and Late Night jokefests, that George Bush honored a comic book artist with the National Medal for the Arts. Forget that he also honored Olivia de Haviland. The news today is that George Bush awarded a medal to brothers Robert B. Sherman and Richard M. Sherman, the sogwriting team responsible for the mindnumbing “It’s a Small World After All.” Here’s their immortal lyrics: it’s a world of laughter, a world or tears its a world of hopes, its

I have Emmett from Art Decade to thank for originally bringing this song from 1968 - and this group - to my attention back in September, 2007. Emmett, in turn, caught it two years earlier on Ear Fuzz. From Boston, Listening was a teenage band which in many respects served as a blueprint for Detroit's The Stooges. To my ears, at least. Since hearing this one track for the first time, I tracked down the LP, and whi

Band: Deerhunter From: Atlanta, GA Sound: Left-field pop…smoldering, noisy, uncompromising and ever-evolving Similar Artists: Sonic Youth, Liars, My Bloody Valentine, Velvet Underground Listen Now: “Nothing Ever Happened” Here’s the truth: several centuries of reckless overuse have bludgeoned the whole concept of “irony” to a slow and wilting death.
