Both CD World stores, Greenville Avenue in Dallas, and Belt Line Road in Addison, are both closed now.
CD World were really great record stores and my personal friends. I’m gonna miss ‘em…browsing the endless rows of CDs, talking with the staff about the latest releases or a cut-out relic from the past. Mike’s stores were the best of just a handfull of mom and pop record stores where you could hang out, talk about music, and go home with a bounty of cool music, some old, some new, and none forgotten.
It makes sense to move to where the money is, so they closed the stores and focused on the club. There’s more money in live music shows than in pre-recorded CDs, at least on Greenville Avenue in Dallas. Cater to your audience and give ‘em what they want. And the Granada Theater does just that, with live music shows, concerts, and the super bowl watching party. You can also rent out a special section of the club for a private party. The atmosphere of this vintage theater is awesome, and service from the Granada staff is excellent.
Nowhere else can you find such an eclectic mix of touring artists and live bands. In this next week there is a awesome list of bookings for your entertainment and listening pleasure…
Wednesday January 28th: Micky and the Motorcars, plus Rodney Parker and Whiskey Myers.
Friday January 30th: JJ Grey & Mofro, plus Jonathan Tyler & the Northern Lights.
Saturday January 31st: Gary P. Nunn, plus Two Tons of Steel, and Rodney Hayden.
Sunday February 1st is the Superbowl Watching Party (on 3 huge screens!) Then in the evening, the Los Lonely Boys perform, plus Del Castillo.
There’s some great shows coming up too!
