The Midnight Special

We started having flashbacks to the 70′s after seeing a TV ad for The Midnight Special concert series. The ad says the DVD video collection is now available for the first time ever, but we’ve actually seen it advertised before. Nine DVDs of live classic rock concerts from the seventies. Now cool is that?

How can we remember the 70′s without thinking of classic performances by Peter Frampton or Ted Nugent? From 1972 to 1981 The Midnight Special was the original late night live rock and roll concert show, presenting over 1000 live performances from David Bowie to Donna Summer.

We loved the show because it was actually live music instead of the usual lip-synching that was so common at that time. Wolfman Jack was the perfect late night announcer, which contrasted sharply to the originator of the show, Burt Sugarman. But hey, it was the 70′s and it was cool. Do you feel like we do?
