Waterloo Records just celebrated 30 years in Austin last Saturday, which is really amazing in this economy when music and record stores are struggling to stay in business.
Owner John Kunz attributes the store’s success to the amazing music scene in Austin, which is a huge melting pot of genres.
Founded in 1982, Waterloo Records has seen major shifts in music trends, from the advent of the CD in the early 80’s to the MP3 of today’s digital format.
And by the way, Waterloo uses the full spectrum of bandwidth available for the MP3, not just the limited and compressed variety you find so common online.
Waterloo is celebrating their big anniversary with a store wide sale, and of course, there’s Record Store Day coming up on April 21st, which will offer up many one-a-kind rare and wonderful musical oddities you won’t want to miss out on!
Waterloo’s website has the latest schedule of events, in-store performances and listening parties. Also check out their Facebook Page for more info, and Waterloo’s YouTube Channel for your favorite bands playing in the store.
